  I embarked as an owner-builder on a massive remodel/addition project a few years back, and hired Warren Lisser of WL Construction to consult. I interviewed many builders in town to consult on this project, but Warren was the only one willing to work with me. Over a period of about a year an a half, Warren and his partner Lars met with my wife, me, the architect and the framing crew to get our house done. Warren was available for questions, recommendations, advice, and stopped by frequently to check in and review work and look for potential problems. His fees were very reasonable only charging me for his time on site and in the meetings, and providing tons of value and helpful guidance. I would recommend them again in a heartbeat to anyone doing a simple bathroom remodel all the way to building the home of your dreams. They are professional, organized and very knowledgable about building techniques and materials (old and new). And if you can't handle their fees and are a competent DIYer, then hit them up for some consultation and save yourself some costly re-do time, effort and anxiety before you start your new project. Whether you want them to help, or to do the entire job, I recommend at least talking to them. They were great to work with.
